Evaluation Question 1:In what ways does your media product use, develop, or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
In what ways does your media product use, develop, or challenge forms and conventions of real media products
Whilst making my media product i thought it would be important to try and keep with the trend of how the trailers are shown as a key point of a trailer is to get over the story line and the genre of the film however i also wanted to match some codes and conventions for example the location is a house which is typical place for hauntings or ghost stories. One part of my trailer that doesnt follow this trend is the use of a boy that is getting haunted in the house rather than a girl. I included a clear storyline which is easy to follow by showing development through my scenes, Many RMA's include this progression just like the paranormal activity trailer.
This is frame shot sheet from the RMA i studied paranormal activty 4 and this sheet shows the amount of shots throughout the length of their trailer. This showed me the need of pacing shots from long takes for a introduction to characters, location and building the storyline. Leading onto fast paced cuts and shots to create an exciting enigma.

Throughout
the trailer i used sound motif for when the shadow is first seen and i really
wanted to create a fear of shadows so that the audience felt it. This was even
more vital for the still pictures of the poster and magazine front cover as i
had a idea of what i wanted it to look like and didnt want it to look any
different. I wanted to get the point of the film across in one picture and i
believe with the background lighting which creates a shadow on the floor
infront of the man creates a eerie feel.
Below is a
RMA that i looked at when designing my poster and was the main inspiration for
The Shadow. As you can see they have a tagline at the top and the title at the
bottom and i decided to try and follow this style when designing my poster.
This is also a good example of texts across the poster their are 3 different
types of text but all in the same family and the title is the biggest and
stands out the most as it is in red as aposed to white.

Evaluation Question 3:What have you learned from your audience feedback?
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
For my audience feedback i asked two 17 yearolds a few questions about my trailer.
From the feedback i learnt that the overall was good possitive feedback saying they liked it and would go see it but the deeper questions helped me in other aspects. For example "which age group would you see this movie being aimed at?" the answer was teenagers and older. This fits with the age i was trying to reach from when we made our pitch at the start of the campaign.
Another question i asked was "which aspects did you like most about the trailer?" The answer that i found most interesting and beneficial was the answer from the first girl when she talked about the element of realism regarding the old man not wanting to admit the house is haunted as people would think he is crazy. This is a real life thing as the majority of people believe ghosts dont exist and only crazy people think they do. This was important feedback for me as it meant that the trailer had a aura of realism and wasnt just made up and i believe films that seem true can appeal to a wider audience.

I like your image and you are starting to show some good understanding of text and image integration. To improve, you need to make the photo bigger in the mag front cover and work on text size in both - this is just a few tweaks. However, if you were better organised and had brought your files with you you could have worked on this today.

Magazine front cover RMA
This is a front cover from Total Film of a movie called shutter island whch is a well known horror film with stars such as Leonardo DiCaprio. The image shows "Teddy Daniels" who is Leonardo DiCaprio's character in the movie it shows him infront on the brand on magazine but behind the movie title, this adds a element of depth to the front cover. To identify it as a horror film the title is in blood red and the foggy ghosty effect at the bottom of the page works well with the looming darkness at the top of the page. From this it is important to properly identify by the background which genre the film is.
For example this is another magazing cover from Total film and this time it has Skyfall as its feature film. This helps explain how the background and text help suggest genre to the audience. With the gold title dark grey background and James bond in a suit with a gun it instantly tells you it is a thriller. However due to this being a sequel james bond film the type of film is so well known by fans that the background can be a grey background to draw attention to the character.

RMA's (Poster)

Your poster is coming together well. You have all the ingredients but the layout is not as good as it could be. You need to pull the picture out more and work on your text size - make the title the largest font and then include the tag line. Think about how you are using lighting. Go back to some RMAs to help you. You need to evidence this on your blog.
