Evaluation Question 1:In what ways does your media product use, develop, or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

In what ways does your media product use, develop, or challenge forms and conventions of real media products

Whilst making my media product i thought it would be important to try and keep with the trend of how the trailers are shown as a key point of a trailer is to get over the story line and the genre of the film however i also wanted to match some codes and conventions for example the location is a house which is typical place for hauntings or ghost stories. One part of my trailer that doesnt follow this trend is the use of a boy that is getting haunted in the house rather than a girl. I included a clear storyline which is easy to follow by showing development through my scenes, Many RMA's include this progression just like the paranormal activity trailer.

Throughout the trailer i used sound motif for when the shadow is first seen and i really wanted to create a fear of shadows so that the audience felt it. This was even more vital for the still pictures of the poster and magazine front cover as i had a idea of what i wanted it to look like and didnt want it to look any different. I wanted to get the point of the film across in one picture and i believe with the background lighting which creates a shadow on the floor infront of the man creates a eerie feel.

Below is a RMA that i looked at when designing my poster and was the main inspiration for The Shadow. As you can see they have a tagline at the top and the title at the bottom and i decided to try and follow this style when designing my poster. This is also a good example of texts across the poster their are 3 different types of text but all in the same family and the title is the biggest and stands out the most as it is in red as aposed to white.

This is frame shot sheet from the RMA i studied paranormal activty 4 and this sheet shows the amount of shots throughout the length of their trailer. This showed me the need of pacing shots from long takes for a introduction to characters, location and building the storyline. Leading onto fast paced cuts and shots to create an exciting enigma.
